Red Rocks Road Footpath upgrade in Cowes underway by Bass Coast Council

A new footpath will be built along Red Rocks Road in Cowes, between Cypress Court and the foreshore, with work to start in mid-October.

Construction on this Bass Coast Shire Council project is expected to take around 12 weeks to complete, subject to favourable weather, contractor and supplier availability. The $160,000 project is funded by council's 2022/23 Pathway Gaps Program. The new footpath will improve access for pedestrians and provide a safe connection to the existing footpath network, linking Settlement Road to the foreshore.

Minimising disruptions

The project will include construction of a 1.5-metre-wide concrete path, service adjustments for water, power and Telstra services, as well as alterations to stormwater where required. Some minor vegetation trimming and removal will be carried out as part of the construction, with all necessary permits and approvals secured.

These works will include the use of large plants and machinery and might be noisy at times. Council understands that these works may present an inconvenience to nearby residents and businesses and appreciates their patience.

The contractor will make every effort to minimise disruptions during construction.
