Darren Chester welcomes Coalition's $250M pledge to revive BBRF a win for Gippsland jobs, projects and communities
Darren Chester has welcomed the Coalition's $250 million pledge to revive the BBRF, supporting regional infrastructure, jobs, and economic growth in Gippsland and other rural communities from 2025 - 26.
Federal Member for Gippsland Darren Chester has welcomed the Coalition's commitment to re-establish the Building Better Regions Fund (BBRF), a critical source of funding for the delivery of infrastructure and community development projects in Gippsland.

Delivering for Gippsland
Mr Chester said, "This is fantastic news for Gippsland and for every local council and community group that's been searching for funding to deliver a local project. The BBRF is about getting stuff done, delivering projects that make a difference to Gippslanders, and helping communities invest in projects that make our region even stronger into the future."
Mr Chester said previous rounds of the Coalition's BBRF had benefited many local projects and delivered infrastructure throughout the region. "Omeo Mountain Bike Trails, a new lookout over the Gippsland Lakes at Kalimna and new supported living units at Yarram's Mirridong Services are just a few of the many projects delivered under previous rounds of BBRF. Improving community infrastructure not only supports local jobs but helps boost the local economy," Mr Chester said.
Revive Regional Australia
Mr Chester said the BBRF would help to strengthen local economies, improve liveability, and create more local jobs. "The Albanese Government axed this program because Labor couldn't care less about people who don't live in the capital cities," Mr Chester said.
"The Nationals in government will restore the Building Better Regions Fund with a $250 million investment in 2025-26, providing an ongoing open opportunity for communities to submit applications on a timeframe when they are ready."
"The re-established fund will invest in community initiatives, events and infrastructure projects that drive regional economic growth and resilience and will be solely open to regional, rural and remote communities," Mr Chester said.
