Evelyn Schmidt: Centre Co-Ordinator, main areas of responsibility are to develop and co-ordinate educational, social and employment options for the community at large.
To ensure that ACFE courses are researched, planned, developed, administered and evaluated.
Offer assistance, support or access to resources according to the needs of the community on an individual or group basis.
Budgeting for and management of the centre in liaison with the Administration Officer.
Reporting regularly to both ACFE and Department of Planning and Community Developemnt to meet contractual obligations. Report monthly to the Committee Of Management
Attend and support the East Gippsland Network of Neighbourhood Houses. Liaise with Community groups, Government Departments at Local, State and Federal levels.
Representing organisation at State, Regional and Local network meetings and information sessions.
Development and coordination of arts and cultural activities and encourage enterprise development for local artists.

A volunteer committee and paid staff manage the Neighbourhood House and collectively provide many opportunities for locals to utilise.

- Need help and don't know where to turn? Staff can refer you to people or organizations that can assist.
Fax
- You can send or collect your fax from the Resource Centre. $2.00 per page.
- Centrelink forms $1.20 per page. (Includes one photocopy which is required)
Photocopying
- All sizes up to A3. The copier can enlarge and reduce from the original size. Costs vary.
- Only paper purchashed by the Neighbourhood House can be used in the photocopier.
- Reams of paper can be purchased from the Neighbourhood House at $7.50 each.
Basic Educational Assistance
- Free, confidential one-on-one tutoring is available for people who experience difficulty with reading, writing or math’s.
Educational Pathways
- Neighbourhood House and TAFE staff can advise you on educational choices to further your life-long learning.
Library
- We have a free lending library of reference books.
- Huge range of children's videos for hire.
Book Exchange
- We have a wide range of books for a suggested donation of 50c. If you have books you no longer need, please consider bringing them into the Centre so others can enjoy them also. We also pass on books to Aged Care Facilities in Bairnsdale and Lakes Entrance.
Lap Tops
- We have 2 lap tops that can be hired for educational or community use.
Data Projectors
- We have 2 data projectors for hire for educational or community use.
There are also lots of opportunities for volunteers to participate in activities and management.
