Harley rides, the TAC Crash Simulator, belly dancing, temporary tattoos, displays from the defence forces, and dance demonstrations from the LV Rockers are just some of the events filling an action packed program of activities at Kernot Hall this Saturday, to celebrate Youth Week.
The Latrobe Youth Celebration sponsored by the Latrobe Community Health Service together with Latrobe City Council, JPET-GEST, JPET-Berry Street, Monash University, YSASS, DEET, the Victoria Police and Luke’s Place will take place between 11am and 4pm. Entry is free.
Latrobe City’s Celebrate Youth Program Facilitator, Claire Crozier, said the day was going to be a fantastic event, with loads of activities for the young people to get involved in.
“It is a day for young people to claim as their own, have a say and represent themselves, who they are and what they believe is important to them,” Ms Crozier said.
“Other activities at the Latrobe Youth Celebration include a Tim Neave martial arts demonstrations, massage and hair braiding demonstrations, workshops, a barbeque and performances by local bands Grand Silent System and Wednesday Circle from 11.45am onwards.”
Latrobe City Youth Services staff member, Lee McNeill, who has been involved in organising the band event said the bands lined up for the day represented an extraordinary amount of talent.
“Grand Silent Systems have just recently released their new CD titled ‘They Who Built’, and Wednesday Circle has been highly recommended by young people as a talented group of local boys from Maffra, with a promising future,” Ms McNeill said.
Shuttle Bus transport to Kernot Hall will depart from Traralgon West and East Secondary Colleges, Kurnai College Churchill and Lowanna Secondary College from 10.30am, 11.30am and 12.30pm.
