By Latrobe City - 4th April 2003 - Back to News The Churchill Youth Action Centre recently held hair and makeup demonstrations, attracting many young people to the Gaskin Park Centre.
Latrobe City Council’s Youth Action Centre Officer, Kerryn Super, said that for the first demonstration about 45 young people attended.
"Chelsea from Zanti Hair Salon in Morwell showed the group how to create easy-to-do hairstyles and talked about aspects of hair care. The evening was a great success and was thoroughly enjoyed by everyone who came along," Ms Super said.
"For the cosmetics night, 40 young people attended. Tara and Amanda from Guardian Pharmacy in Moe ran the workshop and the young people were able to practice their make-up skills on each other, as well as acquiring helpful hints on ways to apply make-up.
"The information given was really useful for day to day application as well as for special nights out. The young people really enjoyed themselves and looked great with the make up on," Ms Super continued.
Ms Super added that the Churchill Youth Action Centre is open every Wednesday between 4pm and 8pm and is located at Gaskin Park (off Manning Drive).
"There are more activities coming up at the centre, for example, there will be a barbecue and basketball competition on 9 April. There is artwork, cards, cooking, playing pool, and crafts at the centre on a regular basis and everyone is welcome," Ms Super concluded.
