The number of international students studying at GippsTAFE have increased to seven this year, with more expected to arrive in the second semester and beyond.

InternationalStudentsThe number of international students studying at GippsTAFE have increased to seven this year, with more expected to arrive in the second semester and beyond.

Huadong Yang (David) is in his second year of a Diploma of Tourism (Operations Management) at the Morwell Campus and is from Jiaozou in China.

Yao Yao is undertaking a mixture of first and second year subjects in an Advanced Diploma in Business (Accounting) at the Yallourn Campus.

"The Campus has a lot of space and is full of interesting people and teachers," said Yao Yao, who is from Jiaozou in China.

Ma Wenting (Katherine) is doing the second year of an Advanced Diploma of Business (Accounting) and is from Jiaozou in China.

Catherine said that she was very happy to be studying in Australia, "Student Services and teachers are very helpful and full of information."

Xu Lu (Andy) comes from Xian in China. For the past two years he did VCE studies at Traralgon Secondary College and is now undertaking an Advanced Diploma in Business (Accounting) at the Yallourn Campus.

"Going to school in Australia is very different to China. There is more discussion in Australian classes, which helps you understand concepts and gain more knowledge," said Andy.

Qi Bin (James) arrived in Australia 5 months ago, undertaking an English course. He plays soccer and loves Heavy Metal music. He is studying an Advanced Diploma in Business (Accounting) at the Yallourn campus, and is from Jiaozou in China.

Hao Kai (Nicolas) is undertaking an Advanced Diploma in Business (Accounting) at the Yallourn Campus, "I love going to Melbourne, to the movies and the opera. There is a lot to do."

For the first time ever, the Warragul Campus has an international student, Mathanarubi Musnusamy (Rubi) from Malaysia, who is also studying an Advanced Diploma in Business (Accounting).

"Many of our Chinese students have a keen interest in Soccer, with two students already joined up with local soccer teams," Said Helen Reeves, Learning, Information and Support Coordinator in the Student Services Department.

"Other students have part time jobs and all of them have adjusted exceptionally well given the demands of language and lifestyle."
