Lyn Kosky, Education Minister will be among those at a Regional Higher Education Forum at Green Inc (adjacent to the Monash campus) on Wednesday, 19 February. The forum will be an opportunity for education providers in Gippsland to discuss the special requirements of rural and regional campuses, enhance opportunities to study in higher education and create diverse offerings through the promotion of cooperative arrangements between institutions. Professor Geoff Wilson will chair a working party which will be convened to develop a long-term strategy for the cooperative provision of higher education in regional and rural Victoria that also corresponds with industry growth. The working party will include representatives from State and Commonwealth Governments, Victorian universities and regional industries. The Pro Vice Chancellor, Professor Brian Mackenzie will be available for comment. The latest exhibition to come to the Monash University Gippsland Campus Switchback Gallery is by artist Jazmina Cininas, entitled ‘ The Girlie Werewolf Project’. The exhibition will be on display from Tuesday, February 18 until March 27 with a special viewing of prints, video, artist’s books and floortalk by the artist at 6pm on Tuesday, March 11. Light refreshments will be available.
- Making the Grade
Sam Dortmans (Bachelor of Engineering (Mechantronics) and Lauren Wood (Bachelor of Science, Chemistry Major) will be awarded the Australian Paper Scholarship on Monday, February 17 at a presentation ceremony to be hosted by Tony Purdy, Group General Manager, Maryvale and Tasmania. Mr. Dortmans and Ms. Wood will receive $5000 each as well as vacation employment at the Mill. Professor Sam Adeloju (Head, School of Applied Science) and Justin Kohlman (Manager, Marketing and Public Affairs) presented the Monash Prize to Gippsland secondary students, Amy Wielgosz (Traralgon Secondary College) and Brett Hallam (Bairnsdale Secondary College) at ceremonies held at the Binishell and Traralgon Secondary College last week. The Monash Prize is presented to high achieving students nominated by their schools.

One hundred and forty-five students who received a second round offer for Undergraduate studies at the Gippsland Campus enrolled on Friday. Students were given their ID cards and directed to accommodation, the bookshop and Café as required. Orientation Week, which is now compulsory, will begin on February 24 for all students.
