    Engineers in Gippsland have a positive outlook for the next five years,
    according to a recent survey conducted by Gippsland Research and Information Service. In the next five years, 61 organisations contacted for the survey estimated hiring a total of 244 graduates. Just over three-quarters of the survey respondents indicated that they source at least some of their students from Monash University, Gippsland Campus.
    More than 80 submissions have been made to the Gippsland Engineering Review Panel.
    The final date for submissions to the Engineering Review Panel has been extended to February 14. As well as formal submissions, meetings took place with about 200 people in Gippsland last week to gain views on the future of the Gippsland School of Engineering at the Gippsland Campus. The Review Panel is expected to compile all information received and release their final report on March 10.
    The first 2003 Research Seminar for the Faculty of Business & Economics
    will be on Tuesday, February 18 presented by Professor Sue Llewellyn, Chair of Management Control, University of Edinburgh Management School. The title of the seminar, ‘What Counts as "Theory" in Qualitative Management and Accounting Research?: Introducing Five Levels of Theorising’, will be held in the Faculty of Business and Economics Conference Room at 1pm with light lunch available from 12.45pm.
  • Making the Grade
    Len Pullin will graduate with his PhD in Public Management Ethics
    at the next Gippsland Campus graduation ceremony in March. Dr. Pullin’s thesis ‘Public Management Values Under Contract Employment: a Study of Local Government Senior Officers in Victoria’, examines the values that senior managers in Victorian local government adopt in their working relationship with local government councillors.

    The Gippsland Community Leadership Program for 2003 will be launched on Monday, February 10 at 6.30pm at the Century Inn, Traralgon. Keynote speaker for the night will be Mr Don Watson, former speech writer of Paul Keating and author of award winning ‘Reflections of a Bleeding Heart – A Portrait of Paul Keating’.
