GippsTAFE Manager Receives AwardWarragul Campus Manager presented with a special staff excellence award By Eimear McNelis - 16th September 2002 - Back to News GippsTAFE’s Warragul Campus Manager, Doug Mullen, was presented with a special staff excellence award at GippsTAFE’s annual staff conference, which was held recently.
The "Reward and Recognition Excellence Award" was presented to Mr Mullen by GippsTAFE CEO Jeff Gunningham for his "contribution to Institute links with the community".
Mr Mullen has been a staff member of the Institute for the past 23 years, beginning as a teacher in the Building Studies Department at the Yallourn Campus. He went on to be a workplace trainer in Building Studies and then set up the Sport and Recreation Department at the Yallourn Campus before moving to the Warragul Campus to become Campus Manager.
Mr Mullen is a prominent community figure in Warragul being a VET in Schools representative for the Baw Baw Network, a member of the VCAL Working Party for the Baw Baw Shire, school contact for pilot trade type programs, Blue Rock Classic participant and organiser representing Central Gippsland Institute of TAFE, student exchange program and sponsor, and Gippsport Board Member representing West Gippsland.
Mr Mullen was also a major player in the setting up of GippsTAFE’s Internet Café in Warragul.
"It was a huge buzz to be nominated for the award, especially by my peers," said Mr Mullen.
"The staff are tremendous and I could not have won the award without the support that they give me."
