GippsTAFE has courses available for school leavers, apprentices and trainees, the unemployed, mature aged students, and professionals looking to advance their skills and specific industry training.
GippsTAFE offers Certificate I-IV with many Diploma and Advanced Diploma courses providing students with credits into University study.
Courses offered by GippsTAFE are developed in conjunction with industry ensuring that the skills you acquire during your study are relevant to the type of requirements that employers are looking for.
Recent graduate surveys have revealed very positive outcomes for people who take up study at GippsTAFE.
In 2001, 85% of GippsTAFE students were either employed or undertaking further study after finishing their course and nearly 80% achieved what they wanted out of their course.
The survey found that 17% of GippsTAFE graduates went on to University studies, and that the starting salary for GippsTAFE graduates was more than $30,000 a year.
Industries that courses are offered in include Tourism, Sport and Recreation, Plumbing and Gasfitting, Painting and Decorating, Music, Koorie Studies, Hospitality, Horticulture, Health and Community Studies, Hair Design and Beauty, Fashion, Clothing and Textiles, Engineering, Construction and Safety, Community Access, Children, Health and Family Studies, Business Studies, Information Technology, Automotive and Applied Art.
Job placement also provides students with an opportunity to create links with that industry.
Those students applying for University are still advised to include TAFE courses that offer articulation to University courses within their VTAC preferences
