Emergency, Who do you call?
Late last year a man suffered a heart attack after returning home with his grocery shopping. Fortunately he had the presence of mind to dial 000. Due to the pain that he was suffering at the time he was unable to speak to the operator and give his address. The operator soon realized that the person calling 000 was in difficulty and so dispatched an ambulance and a police vehicle to the caller’s address. This story ends on a happy note as the heart attack victim was attended to promptly by the ambulance service and conveyed to hospital. The reason why the operator was able to send an ambulance so promptly was due to the fact that when a 000 call is received, the address and subscriber’s details are displayed to the operator. This service covers all Telecommunication services whether they are listed or silent numbers.
It’s a free call. Just tell the operator what you need - fire, police or ambulance. Then wait to be connected.
So Remember! In a life threatening emergency dial 000 for Fire, Police or Ambulance any time day or night for 24 hour service. (from NHW Sentinel)
Police Concert:
The few empty seats in Kernot Hall showed that the Police concert was well attended. The audience were treated to music and song provided by the Police Show Band and Highland Pipe Band, in what was probably the best concert they have presented so far. The audience must have thought so too, judging by the speed that the CDs and tapes of the bands which sold out at interval.

Burglary Warning:
Latrobe Valley residents, are asked to remain vigilant regarding daytime burglaries. The Morwell Crime Investigation Unit is concerned about the increase in burglaries committed on residential properties, particularly to elderly people even when they’re home. There have been cases of people claiming to be tradesman or salespeople who are entering homes and stealing money. Residents are asked to lock doors and sheds, and be more vigilant and keep a lookout for anyone acting strangely in their neighbourhood. If anyone does see suspicious behaviour no matter how trivial it may seem, they should contact the police immediately by ringing 000.
