The Project aims to establish a vision, a vision that relates to how development and land uses will be managed in the future, and then establishes a framework for achieving that vision. "This is an exciting opportunity for us to work together to develop a vision for Inverloch for the next 20 years," said Cr. Gains, Mayor of Bass Coast Shire Council. "We will not only be creating a vision but also putting the process in place to actually see that vision become a reality." "Bass Coast Shire Council is excited about this project and the opportunities that it will present to Inverloch and the various communities that live, work and play here," he said. A Steering Committee has been appointed. That committee will be responsible for guiding the project as well as being a primary point of contact for other Inverloch residents and ratepayers. The Steering Committee includes Inverloch residents and ratepayers as well as Council and Department of Infrastructure (DOI) representatives. Members of the Committee are Kirk Warren, Noelle Green, John Gunson, Phil Redmond, Peter Dalmau, Annalisa Woolridge, Wendy Davies, Steve Fisher, Sue Porter (Chair), Stephen Foster (Council Planning Manager), & Barry Hearsey (DOI representative). "There will be significant community involvement in this project to ensure that the outcomes are relevant to residents and visitors alike," said Cr Gains. "The community is encouraged to get involved in the whole process from helping identify the issues of concern, finding the solutions and finally making them happen." Up-coming opportunities for people to have input into the Project include: · Workshops on the evening of Wednesday 21 August. · Community Convention on Saturday 24 August to set the vision for Inverloch and discuss land use and development issues. "This project needs community involvement to be a success," said Cr. Gains. "I urge people to become involved and have their say." Cr Gains explained that there was also a project newsletter that would be distributed at key milestones during the project. "Call Council to put your name on the mailing list for the newsletter so that you can keep up-to-date with what is happening with the Inverloch Design Framework Project," said Cr Gains.
