Karl Redenbach, winner of the Young Australian of the Year Awards’ “Career Achievement Award 2000”, will be the Australia Day Ambassador

Karl Redenbach, winner of the Young Australian of the Year Awards’ "Career Achievement Award 2000", will be the Australia Day Ambassador at celebrations in Cowes on Saturday 26 January 2002. The celebrations will take place at the Rotunda on the Cowes Foreshore from 1.45 pm.

Celebrations begin at 1.45 pm with musical entertainment from Dennis Kadmon and young residents of Bass Coast Shire Council.

Official proceedings start at 2.00pm and include an Australia Day address from Karl Redenbach. Mr Redenback is a dedicated, hard working entrepreneur who has established his own company Ration Multi-media, which employs more than 50 staff. While studying law, Karl used his creativeness, marketing and management skills to develop scholarship programs, manage a successful cover band, and develop and publish books for Fairfax Group.

Celebrations will include a flag raising ceremony, and Mr Redenbach will announce the 2002 Bass Coast Australia Day award winners. The Mayor will make presentations to the captains of the local fire brigades whose members recently helped battle the bushfires in NSW.

A feature of the Cowes celebrations will be the presentation a new "Outstanding Community Service Award".

"This is a new and special award that recognises the community service and dedication of a local person to the Bass Coast community," said Cr Miranda Sage, Mayor of Bass Coast Shire Council.

The celebrations will conclude with refreshments and more entertainment from Dennis Kadmon and young residents from Bass Coast Shire.
