Gippsland › Latest news › Gippsland SportsPacers Win At First Home GameThe Pacers defeat long time rivals Diamond Valley The Carpet Country Latrobe City Pacers have had success in round 2 of the Big V Australian Basketball League at their first home game on Saturday night at the Moe Newborough Sports Stadium. The Pacers were able to defeat long time rivals Diamond Valley 119 to 96. Coach Ron Brooks was again pleased with the teams performance stating that team played as a cohesive unit, stuck to the game plan and ran the fast break well. Key players for the Pacers include import Vashon Weaver with 31 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists; Jeff Reid with 26 points, 8 assists and 4 steals and Paul Clough 19 points, 12 rebounds and 2 blocks. Young Pakenham player Ashley Condon also performed well with 10 points, 13 rebounds and 1 block. President David Roberts said after the game that this a great team effort and one that the club had been working towards for some time. He thanked both players and supporters for the commitment to the club and hoped this win would be the first of many for the club.
