Top level sporting clash in Morwell on Saturday.
Latrobe City hosted yet another top level sporting clash in Morwell on Saturday, giving Latrobe Valley residents the opportunity to see elite athletes in action.
Western Sydney Wanderers remain unbeaten after drawing 1-1 with Melbourne Victory in their W-League Soccer match at the Latrobe City Sports and Entertainment Stadium.
Mayor, Cr Dan Clancey, said council’s investment in the development of the stadium had proved a great opportunity for Latrobe City to host elite sportsmen and women.
"We now have facilities throughout the municipality where we can showcase top level sport," Cr Clancey said.
Melbourne Victory thrilled the big crowd when Natasha Dowie crossed for Hayley Hanson's first W-League goal after only eight minutes. It took until the 60th minute for the Wanderers to equalise when American player Lynn Williams slotted a goal for Western Sydney to level.
