Omeo features in photographic exhibitionSally Alden will be presenting her “Omeo: God’s Own Country” photographic exhibition in Angler’s Rest over Easter. By Sally Alden - 11th April 2001 - Back to News Talented Melbourne-based photographer Sally Alden will be presenting her “Omeo: God’s Own Country” photographic exhibition in Angler’s Rest over Easter.
Renowned across Victoria as chief photographer for Stock and Land newspaper, and well respected for capturing rural lifestyle in its most pure form, Sally welcomes one and all to her first public exhibition.
The event will be staged at the Blue Duck Hotel in Angler’s Rest from Good Friday to Easter Monday, with the official opening at 4pm on Good Friday, April 13th. The exhibition is a reflection of Omeo, its characters, lifestyle and glorious countryside, which Sally believes can be simply defined as God’s Own Country.
Sally’s work with Stock and Land sees her travelling to all corners of Victoria, yet Omeo has been one pocket which has beckoned her back again and again. “I am intrigued by the people, and I respect their old world values which are becoming increasingly rare to find these days,” she says. Sally admits that Omeo is one place in the world that feels like home to her.
Sally’s rural upbringing is reflected in her ability to capture the essence of country living. The exhibition explores relationships, captures local personalities and illustrates the natural wonder of the landscape. Guests will have the opportunity to appreciate various photographic techniques including the use of black and white, sepia toning and cross-processing.
