Mayor’s Message

You’re all probably sick of the election hype, politics and promises that are clogging the airwaves daily.

But before you switch off and wave your hands in the air in despair, be careful not to miss this golden window of opportunity to lobby for the issues that concern you most.

We have been a safe seat for a long time, a position that does not have draw much attention at election time, when all energies are thrown at marginal seats.

But this time we are a marginal seat and we do have burning issues that require attention, and each of us has the power to influence what issues are prioritised by the various candidates and their parties.

Tell the candidates TODAY (email/ write/fax/phone) what will influence your vote:

• Your concerns
• Improved communication and electricity services;
• Funding to manage wastewater issues;
• Infrastructure to cope with an aging population and a sea change influx;
• Local autonomy to regulate wind facility proliferation;
• Protection of our land and marine environment

We’ve had enough cups of teas with the cavalcade of visiting politicians and their advisers. Let’s see some real commitment before we cast our vote.
