In view of this, a member of the Morwell Police will be at our March meeting to further discuss these matters. This will be an opportunity to raise your concerns, and we do hope you will attend. The Easter Holiday period has traditionally been the second most important holiday period on the Australian calendar. It is the last real period of the year that offers a number of public holidays together, enabling families to go on holiday or visit relatives or friends at other locations. This mass exodus dramatically increases traffic throughout the State, which in turn dramatically increases the potential for conflict on the arterial road system. Holiday periods are times for relaxation. Road trauma should never have any role in these periods. The most disappointing factor about the road toll is that almost all crashes are avoidable, if people simply complied with the traffic regulations. The message is very clear. Be careful and follow these simple rules. · Don’t speed, comply with all speed limits · Don’t drink and drive (Consider also any medication you are taking - if you have any doubts consult your Doctor) · Never drive when fatigued. If you are tired, pull over and have a power nap - Drive to Arrive · Be ever alert. Just because the traffic light in front of you is green is no reason to be complacent to other road users. Be aware and alert to traffic on the intersecting carriageway as well as your own. Above all, have a great break and enjoy your yourselves. Don’t forget to secure your house before you leave, and consider handing in an "Absence From Residence" Form at the Local Police Station Police Concert:The Police Concert will be held at Kernot Hall on Wednesday 23rd of June at 7:30 pm. There will be a reduced number of tickets available this year, and will be available at a date to be advised from your Zone Leader or Carmen. The price remains unchanged at $6.00. A spate of thefts of purses and handbags has been reported from shopping trolleys recently. Bags should be held closely to the side of your body or by the strap over your shoulder. If your bag is grabbed, and you can’t hold it, release it, and if possible, empty the contents onto the ground. This will prevent injury and may deter the thief from stealing all your property such as car keys or personal items. Don’t carry large sums of money. Never leave your handbag on adjacent seats in cinemas, halls or on public transport instead, hold it in your lap. In restaurants, put your bag on the floor between your feet with your foot on the strap so you can feel the bag being moved. When shopping, do not leave your handbag unattended on the counter whilst paying for purchases. Bullying is just another form of assault. It causes many children a great deal of emotional trauma. Parents should encourage their children to inform them or a trusted teacher if they become the victim of bullying. Children are always safer if they are with friends or near a teacher. Report bullying before it escalates to an assault.
Daylight Saving Ends Soon. Check your smoke alarm batteries, and if they have been in for a year or more, replace them. Scratch the date on the new batteries so you can see how long they have been installed. Police Crime Report For February N.H.W.
