Ageing Well Action Plan now available to help shape healthy wellbeing of the elderly in Latrobe City
Latrobe City developed a new ageing well plan that will address priorities and support people who are aged 55 years and over.
Latrobe City Council has a new positive ageing action plan called Ageing Well Latrobe, aiming to shape a healthy, safe and resilient community for people who are aged 55 years and over. The action plan was developed following engagement sessions held earlier in the year with local community members to understand their ideas and aspirations.
Latrobe City Council is committed to supporting our community members as they age by creating opportunities to respect, consider and plan for their needs to age positively
Ageing well plan priorities
Relevant health and wellbeing data is also integrated in the action plan, which forms part of the Municipal Health and Wellbeing Plan, Living Well Latrobe 2022-2025. The Ageing Well Latrobe Plan has five priority areas, each applying a positive ageing lens, including:
- Support
- Safe
- Healthy and Active
- Resilient and Supported
- Natural and Built Environments
Mayor of Latrobe City Cr Kellie O'Callaghan said council was committed to making community members aged 55 and over feel welcome, connected and celebrated.
Considering ageing needs
Cr O'Callaghan said, "People aged 55 years and over represent almost 35 percent of Latrobe City's population, so it's important to make sure our services, facilities and programs consider their needs and their voices are acknowledged."
"The Ageing Well Latrobe Action Plan will also be supported by our Positive Ageing Community Group, which brings together individuals who generously share their lived experiences and ideas with council," said the Mayor.
