Golden Pride ChoirEarlier this year, on Friday 17 March, the Tanzanian Golden Pride Children’s Choir visited Phillip Island. By Bass Coast Shire Council - 17th August 2006 - Back to News Tanzania was Bass Coast’s adopted team for the Melbourne 2006 Commonwealth Games and the children put on a special performance at the Phillip Island Adventure Resort. Entry to the performance was a gold coin donation, with the money raised being put towards the development of a new school in Tanzania.
Council’s Arts and Leisure Coordinator, Jenny Churchill, remains in contact with the Choir and said many people were moved by the children when they visited.
"Bass Coast certainly took their adopted team to heart," said Ms Churchill.
"So it’s very exciting to receive an update on their progress.
"Just last week we received photos of the new school building, as well as one of the children sitting at their desks," continued Ms Churchill.
"It’s certainly wonderful to see that this project has come to fruition."
