It aims to reduce the incidence of preventable crime and provide a safer community for all Victorians. This program is a proven Police and Community partnership against crime. It does this by encouraging residents how to identify and report suspicious behaviour. Our NHW area on the Bridle Estate is divided up into zones. Each zone has a Zone Leader who distributes the newsletter and liases with the residents of that zone. The Zone Leader also attends the NHW meeting once a month. At the moment, several zones do not have leaders. A NHW area cannot function satisfactorily without sufficient zone leaders. We need more Zone Leaders! Anyone wishing to volunteer for this worthwhile activity please contact Carmen on the phone number at the top of the page. The items should be marked with your driver’s licence number with a V in front of it to designate Victoria. Engravers for marking property are available from our NHW area free of charge. Contact your zone leader or Carmen or ring 5134 3071. The benefits of marking property are two fold: 1. When marked property is recovered by police, it can be returned to the rightful owner, and the offender can also be traced back to a particular crime and charged with the appropriate offence. 2. Tracing marked property back to the rightful owner, may also allow property that is not marked but is of a sentimental type, a family heirloom or an antique, to also be returned to the owner.
