Bows Natural Ice Cream wins gold again

Bows Natural Ice Cream won more medals at this year’s Royal Melbourne Dairy Show

By Latrobe City Council - 14th December 2001 - Back to News

With the experience of making in excess of 30,000 litres of ice cream each year, it is little wonder that, once again, Bows Natural Ice Cream won more medals at this year’s Royal Melbourne Dairy Show.

Competing with manufacturers of premium quality ice cream, Bows Natural Ice Cream won four gold and three silver awards.

According to Allan Clam from Bows Natural Ice Cream, only the top manufacturers enter these types of competition. "In fact, most are invited to enter and, therefore to win is a real achievement," Allan added.

Ice Cream is judged according to strict criteria including appearance, texture, flavour and consistency. To win gold requires a final score of between 98 and 100. Silver winners must score between 96 and 97.5, so there is minimal margin for errors in the total quality of the ice cream.

As a direct result of this success, Bows Natural Ice Cream is an automatic inclusion in the 2002 Australian Grand Dairy Awards to be announced in February, 2002. Bows will be entering five flavours in a strong field from across Australia.

In congratulating Bows Natural Ice Cream, Latrobe City Mayor, Cr Brendan Jenkins emphasised the significance of local businesses that are widely recognised within their industry throughout Australia. "Bows is an excellent example of one who has achieved wide acclaim over several years and is a positive ambassador for our municipality," he added.
