A `grand’ effort - Rosedale senior citizensWellington Shire Mayor Peter Gault says members of Rosedale Senior Citizens Club should take a bow! By Wellington Shire Council - 5th September 2005 - Back to News The hard-working club has raised $1000 towards the Rosedale Multi-Purpose Community Centre as part of the community-funding component of the project.
Cr Gault says: "This is a tremendous effort from the Rosedale’s senior citizens, who raised the $1000 through raffles, bingo sessions and card nights over a period of 12 months.
"On behalf of the Council and the community, I’d like to say thank you and well done!"
Cr Gault says a total of the $9000 has been pledged by the community as part of the funding conditions for the facility.
"We would love to hear from any other community groups that may be able to assist with raising funds.
"In the meantime, it’s exciting to watch the progress being made on the wonderful Multi-Purpose Community Centre in Rosedale – it represents a great outcome for much community time and effort."
Cr Gault says the project, which is modern and quite intricate in design, is on track to be completed by next March.
"The concrete has been poured, the framework is up and the roof is expected to be on by the end of this week."
The $2.4 million centre will boast provision for occasional care and pre-school, a library, neighbourhood house and community health services, as well as facilities for local senior citizens and other community groups, placing many of the town’s essential services under one roof for convenient access to community support.
