Getting Revved Up About The Grand Prix

The race is on for this year’s Best Dressed Business Competition.

The race is on for this year’s Best Dressed Business Competition. There has been an overwhelming response so far, and there seems to be plenty of adrenalin to burn in Bass Coast.

The free starter packs from Lombards for the first 30 entries were snapped up very quickly, with 15 businesses entering the competition in the first 24 hours. The phones have been running hot at Council since the competition opened on 11 September.

"There is a certain vibe in the air," said Miranda Sage, Mayor of Bass Coast Shire. "I’ve already heard reports of friendly rivalry amongst traders all across the Shire."

"We’re hoping that more and more businesses will become a part of the competition every year," said Cr. Sage. "Not only is it a lot of fun, but it also creates a welcoming and exciting atmosphere for the thousands of visitors to Bass Coast over Grand Prix weekend."

The competition is being supported by Bass Coast Shire Council, The Australian Grand Prix Corporation, and Lombard – The Paper People. It offers local businesses the opportunity to win great prizes by decorating their businesses with a Grand Prix theme.

First prize: 2 three-day Grandstand Passes to the Grand Prix valued at $428, and 2 tickets to the Grand Prix Ball valued at $130.

Second prize: 2 three-day Family Passes to the Grand Prix, valued at $396.

Third prize: 2 General Admission Passes for Sunday’s big race, valued at $120.

The chequered flag comes down on Friday 21 September, with judging set to begin on Friday 28 September. The judging panel includes Cr. John Gains of Bass Coast Shire Council, and representatives from both the Grand Prix Corporation and Phillip Island Motor Sports.

Race in to one of Council’s Service Centres today and pick up an entry form. They can also be downloaded from Council’s website at www.basscoast.vic.gov.au.
