Pool Surface To Receive A FaceliftThe Wonthaggi Aquatic and Leisure Centre will be closed from Monday 13 April and re-open on Monday 20 April allowing resurfacing and maintenance to be undertaken on the wet area surrounding the pool. By Bass Coast Shire Council - 21st April 2009 - Back to News Bass Coast Shire Council Community and Economic Development Director, Patti Wenn, said the pool deck resurfacing would greatly improve aesthetics, functionality and safety.
"Unfortunately the pool will need to close while we resurface the deck," said Ms Wenn.
"Currently we have matting and barricades up around the pool as an interim measure.
"It will be great to be able to remove these and allow full access around the pool again," continued Ms Wenn.
Bass Coast YMCA Manager, Andrew Mundy, said facility members and guests had been very understanding and patient throughout the recent pool closure.
"Firstly I would like to thank all our members and guests for their patience through the temporary closure and while there has been limited access around the pool," said Mr Mundy.
"We have scheduled the works to take place during the school holidays to try to minimise the disruption to our members and regular classes.
"Pool members will have free entry to the Leongatha Splash Complex on presentation of their membership card.
"Access to the gym and fitness programs will be unchanged by the pool closure," explained Mr Mundy.
For more information on the pool closure, please contact the Wonthaggi Aquatic and Leisure Centre on 5672 4194.
