Centenary Celebrations Draw To An EndWhat: The Wonthaggi Centenary Celebrations will officially close with a ceremony at the Wonthaggi Arts Centre. By Bass Coast - 25th March 2011 - Back to News This will include the unveiling of the time capsule commemorating the opening of the Arts Centre in 1982 and performances from the Bass Coast Chorale and the Wonthaggi Citizens Band. Invited guests will attend a dinner at the Wonthaggi Workmen’s Club, before the official ceremony.
When: Saturday, 27 March 2011
5.30pm- Dinner at the Wonthaggi Workmen’s Club (Community Planning Committee)
7.30pm - Official Closing Ceremony, Wonthaggi Arts Centre
Who: Bass Coast Mayor, Cr Veronica Dowman, Councillors, CEO Allan Bawden.
Invited guests include Centenary Volunteers, Centenary Award Winners, Community Organisations and people in the community who gave their time during the various Centenary Celebrations.
Why: The Centenary Celebrations have captured the hearts and minds of Bass Coast residents over the past three years. Council hosted the Centenary Street Parade and Garden Party and Wonthaggi businesses, schools and organisations also celebrated their own centenaries over the past three years. The Closing Ceremony officially ends the celebrations.
How: The Wonthaggi Centenary Celebrations have been organised by a community committee led by Council’s Arts and Leisure team. The celebrations would not have been possible without the support received from local media, community members and businesses. The Closing Ceremony will be a way to thank those who have assisted in making the celebrations so successful.
