Collaborations and Clusters
An update on news, events, activities and opportunities across the Food & Fibre sector in Gippsland.
Food & Fibre Gippsland is the collaborative force and it's also one of Australia's oldest clusters. Our VegNET Coordinator Shayne Hyman has created a fantastic fact sheet that explains it all and it's well worth the read to get a better understanding of how innovative clustering provides so many layers of benefit to the food and fibre sector, and the economy in general, right across Gippsland.

Food and Fibre Gippsland is all about collaboration, so when an idea turned into an opportunity to connect two of our members to work on a project together - we jumped at the chance! Snowy River Black Garlic and Noweyung's Disability Enterprise Banksia Fine Foods got their heads together this week to work on some value add products for the Black Garlic Range including infused olive oil, black garlic salts and maybe even some black garlic chocolate. Everything is currently in creative testing mode, but we'll keep you updated on the progress as these two Gippsland businesses work together for mutual benefit and the greater good!
Gippsland teachers will be enabled to incorporate ‘food and fibre’ concepts in class, via a series of free professional development events across the region. In term four 2019, teachers will have the chance to take part in a practical, hands on workshop, thanks to a new Gippsland project. The Free PD Days are delivered by Food & Fibre Gippsland and CQ University Australia with support from the Victorian Government. They will be held in various locations across Gippsland including Warragul, Traralgon, Leongatha, Sale and Bairnsdale.

HAPPY AFL GRAND FINAL WEEKEND!
This appeared on the ABC Gippsland Facebook page this week and on the eve of the Grand Final Public holiday in Victoria leading into the AFL Grand Final on Saturday, we're sharing it with you...
Gippsland Dairy farmer Rohan Bingley felt creative last week weekend and whipped out the black and yellow paint. I hope these cows don't secretly barrack for the GWS Giants!
Rohan's wife Julie Bingley barracks for the Magpies, which is a little awkward...
"Rohan painted them while I was shopping yesterday morning. I was shocked when I came home. I'm a Collingwood supporter!"
Good luck to Rohan and all the other Richmond Tigers fans - along with the GWS Giants supporters. And to everyone - a safe and happy last weekend in September!
