In the past some parties have been ruined by the behaviour of gate crashers or riotous behaviour. To help prevent this register your party with the police under the PartySafe program. In conjunction with the Premiers Drug Prevention Council, Victoria Police operate the PARTYSAFE program. PARTYSAFE is a key crime prevention tool operating in your local area. Registering your party with PARTYSAFE will provide your local police with the information they will need if they are called to your party to deal with a disturbance. PARTYSAFE is about minimising the risk of having intoxicated guests or gatecrashers ruin your party. PARTYSAFE registration forms are available from local police stations or via download at http://www.police.vic.gov.au/content.asp?Document_ID=2 To help minimise the risk of having intoxicated guests or gatecrashers ruining your party, follow the simple PARTYSAFE tips, which are contained within a PARTYSAFE brochure available from your local police station upon registration, or downloadable from the Victoria Police internet site: Always remember if you are unable to handle any situation that may occur at a party, call Victoria Police on '000'. Towing A Caravan:For those of you who plan a caravan holiday over Christmas, now is the time to check your caravan over to make sure it is ready for the road. A breakdown or mishap on the road can thoroughly spoil what was going to be a good holiday. Þ Make sure your vehicle has a towing kit that complies with the van’s requirements. Þ Fit recommended exterior rear view mirrors. Þ Don’t load the vehicle beyond its towing weight. Þ Check the van’s tyres for correct inflation, and brakes for operation. Þ Increase the pressure in the towing vehicle’s tyres in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions. Þ Carry a fire extinguisher in the van. Þ Make sure you have a correct spare wheel for the van, can jack up the van, and check the van’s wheel bearings and condition of tyres. Þ When travelling leave at least 60m between your vehicle and the vehicle ahead. Þ Perhaps the most important of all, pull over if you are holding up traffic For those of you who are going away over the Christmas period now is the time to check and update if necessary your home security. The external doors should have dead-locks in good working order, the windows should have locks fitted. Secure the ceiling manhole. Cut away vegetation that may shield the activities of a burglar attempting to force an entry to the house. Make sure the garage or garden shed are locked up securely. A burglar can use the tools kept in these buildings to assist him to enter your home. The Victorian Electoral Commission (VEC) is working with Crime Stoppers to protect the integrity of postal elections taking place for Victoria's councils. Ballot packs will be progressively mailed out from the 11th November to electors on the roll in areas having a postal election. If you know of any suspicious activity, or you see someone in the act of removing ballot packs from letterboxes, call the police on 000. The police will not reveal your identity.
