Pyjama parties for those who missed their immunisation

Teddy bears and pyjamas will be in vogue at immunisation sessions being run by Latrobe City next week.

By Latrobe City Council - 9th October 2006 - Back to News

Council’s health services manager, Andrew Mackintosh, explained that reminders to attend the immunisation ‘pyjama parties’ have been sent to parents of children who are overdue for their current vaccinations. However, all those due for an immunisation are invited to attend.

"This month is immunisation month, and a number of initiatives are being undertaken to remind parents about the need to protect their children from disease through the regular infant program of immunisations. Sometimes, a child is left unprotected because an important session is missed," Mr Mackintosh said.

"To encourage those who have missed a recent session to attend a catch-up session, we have contacted parents of eligible children, encouraging them to attend.

"Because we are celebrating immunisation month, these sessions are being arranged around a pyjama party theme. Children should turn up in pyjamas, and of course teddy bears are invited to accompany them. There will be showbags with colouring books as giveaways," Mr Mackintosh said.

The pyjama party sessions are being held at the Moe Town Hall on Tuesday 17 October 5.30pm – 6.30pm; Ronald Reserve Hall in Vary Street Morwell on Wednesday 18 October 5.30pm – 6.30pm; and at the Function Room in the Civic Centre in Traralgon on Thursday 19 October 5.30pm – 7pm.

"There is no need to book, just turn up on the day as you would for a normal council immunisation session," Mr Mackintosh added.
