Council’s health services manager, Andrew Mackintosh, explained that reminders to attend the immunisation ‘pyjama parties’ have been sent to parents of children who are overdue for their current vaccinations. However, all those due for an immunisation are invited to attend. "This month is immunisation month, and a number of initiatives are being undertaken to remind parents about the need to protect their children from disease through the regular infant program of immunisations. Sometimes, a child is left unprotected because an important session is missed," Mr Mackintosh said. "To encourage those who have missed a recent session to attend a catch-up session, we have contacted parents of eligible children, encouraging them to attend. "Because we are celebrating immunisation month, these sessions are being arranged around a pyjama party theme. Children should turn up in pyjamas, and of course teddy bears are invited to accompany them. There will be showbags with colouring books as giveaways," Mr Mackintosh said.
