By news@gippsland - 17th June 2024 - Back to News As part of an ongoing series around Gippsland over the past few months, an herbal distillation class is being held in Mirboo North in late July through the Herbal Farmacy, founded by vintage aromatherapist Laura A'Bell. This class has been delivered throughout the east coast of Australia for over ten years and brings together the magic of nature with science based distillation.
Experience nature's magic! Join our class featuring a 10-litre alembic copper still to create hydrosols and possibly essential oils Aromatic training workshopLaura has spent decades delivering training and classes to people in the areas of aromatics, herbal medicine and more and has had hundreds of people come to our region to learn and share in these classes, from all around Victoria and as far as WA and Qld. This class shows participants how to use an alembic copper still to make essential oils and hydrosols. Participants will get the unique opportunity to experience and try a range of hydrosols including some plants from our own local forests and learn about what they are, why they are a beneficial option in herbs and aromatics - particularly for children, elderly and pets as well as learn about a range of herb and hydrosol profiles. "Attendees go home with hydrosols that we make on the day as well as course brochures and new connections with like minded people" said Laura. Attendees are encouraged to bring along a cutting or some seeds to share with the class to encourage community apothecary gardens, especially in light of the recent storms in Mirboo North!
