The Council Chamber in Wonthaggi was packed with friends and relatives on hand to witness the ceremony. The crowd was welcomed by Bass Coast Shire Mayor, Cr Goodwin warmly welcomed the new Australian citizens, noting that countries from across the globe were represented at the ceremony. Cr Goodwin also commented that some of the new citizens have lived in Victorian Community History awards Has your community recorded its history in an innovative way? The Victorian Community History Awards recognise excellence in historical method. The various categories acknowledge that history can be told in many and varied formats with the aim of reaching and enriching all Victorians. These Awards include a $5,000 first prize and six $1,000 prizes for finalists in each category. The categories are:
