Gippsland Secondary Schools’ are invited to enter the Web Site Development Competition run by the Monash University Gippsland School of Computing and Information Technology. Gippsland secondary schools and students can win up to $200 cash and a computer for their school by investigating an area of interest, and then showcasing their talents by producing and designing the best website suitable for general public use on their topic. Teams must register by May 9 and the closing date for entries is July 14. The Hon Tony Abbott MP, Minister for Employment, Workplace Relations and Small Business will be guest speaker at the Annual Australian Institute of Management Gippsland (AIM) and Monash University Gippsland Faculty of Business & Economics Management Lecture. Mr Abbott will speak on ‘Changing Industrial Relations: The Issues’ on Monday, May 5 from 5pm in room 5N104 at the Gippsland Campus. The Monash University Gippsland Campus Free Lunchtime Concert to be held on Monday, May 12 is titled Chopin, Bridge and a Little Schumann. The concert is a collection of works for solo cello and piano performed by two of Melbourne’s most outstanding freelance musicians, Zoe Knighton (cello) and Elyane Laussade (piano).

The concert starts at 1pm in the Hexagon.

• Making the Grade

In order to focus on the news writing talents of budding journalists, students from Monash University Gippsland have formed the Monash Press Club. The Press Club is planning to launch their flagship publication "Threshold News" on May 26th.

The paper will offer students opportunities to showcase their talents developed during the course of their journalism degree.

• Open subject

The 2004 Gippsland Internship Program brochure is now available. Year 12 students intending to study at Monash Gippsland in 2004 are encouraged to apply for an internship before December 5.
