Now in its sixth year, the awards honour Victorian businesses, community groups, individuals and public bodies, such as local governments, that are reducing their environmental footprint and using resources in innovative ways. The five categories in the 2008 awards are: Public Sector, Community, Small Business, Large Business, and Products or Services. The Awards, hosted by Sustainability Victoria, will be presented by the Premier on 17 April 2008. The Awards are free to enter. Entries close 13 February 2008. The entry and judging processes are managed by the Banksia Environmental Foundation. For further information on the Premier’s Sustainability Awards, visit www.sustainabilityawards.vic.gov.au GENEROUS COMMUNITY SPREADS THE CHRISTMAS SPIRIT Gifts are already appearing under the Bass Coast Christmas Giving Trees, ready to be distributed to disadvantaged families across the Shire. Bass Coast Mayor, "All the presents that are left under the trees will help families in our Shire have a happier Christmas," said Cr Goodwin. "The Combined Welfare Group does a marvellous job, working together to help the less fortunate members of our community." Cr Goodwin encouraged everyone to come into Council’s offices in Wonthaggi and "We are asking people to leave their gifts before Friday 7 December," Cr Goodwin explained.
