The CDs were purchased with funds raised from book sales over the past twelve months and are available for hire by library users. Latrobe City Mayor, Councillor Darrell White, said that the Latrobe City Library Service is very grateful for the donation and many people in the local region will benefit from the kind gesture. "People with visual impairments and those who want an alternative to the radio can now make the most of a variety of CD books that were donated by the Friends of Libraries, and students and researcher can enjoy the range of electronic encyclopaedias that the group also donated," Cr White said. Morwell Library Coordinator, Cate Riches, said that the CD ROMs are especially beneficial for anyone interested in the plants and animals of the Latrobe region and "An extensive amount of information is contained in the resources, especially concerning common and endangered species," Ms Riches said. "People interested in the CD ROMs will also be pleased to know that Kylie Singleton from the Department of Sustainability and Environment will be conducting information sessions at Secretary of Latrobe City Friends of Libraries, Jill Beck, said that group members were pleased that their fundraising efforts could be used to assist the local libraries in providing up-to-date and high quality services.
