"As desalination is a very energy intensive process, its greenhouse gas emissions would have a big impact on the environment," said Mr Bawden. Mr Bawden directed his question to the 2007 Australian of the Year, Mr Flannery, who was speaking at a session about reducing pressure on our ecosystems. "Mr Flannery said that he thought desalination was a last resort," said Mr Bawden. "It was a great opportunity to draw his attention to our situation." The issue of desalination was also addressed at a later session, dedicated to "Preserving our most precious resource - water." The photo says "A vexed umpire leaves the field". Council’s Arts Officer, Josephine Kent, said there are many photos being written about by community members for Volume 3 of the booklet Celebrating Our Sporting Past. "But this photo is particularly intriguing, and as yet, no-one has come forward with the story behind it." Ms Kent said she is hoping someone may like to write about the story in the photo, or pass the information on to a writer who could. "All sorts of photos from our collection are being written about for this year’s booklet. "All the writing is of course factual, not fictional. But people can write in any way they like, such as a poem, short story or essay.
