Multimedia artist and Gippsland Centre for Art and Design lecturer Ruth Fleishman has been chosen to participate in the Chicago Project, held at the John David Mooney Foundation in Chicago, USA. Ruth created artworks on-site which well be shown in a curated exhibition at the foundation. Ruth also visited Location One, a world-renowned centre devoted to the convergence of visual, performing and digital arts in New York. Her residency has been assisted by a travel grant from the Faculty of Art and Design, Monash University.

The Rotary Group Study Exchange Team from Kansas, USA visited the Campus and Gippsland Education Precinct last week. Led by a Rotarian, this team comprised two primary teachers, a police officer and a non-profit service agency director. The Team was in Australia for 6 weeks, hosted by Gippsland Rotary Clubs. They made vocational and general visits, and the trip culminated with their presentations to the Annual District 9820 Conference at Philip Island. A team from Gippsland spent 6 weeks in Kansas. Another team from Indonesia visited other parts of this Rotary District (which has 52 Clubs from Frankston to the border). Applications are invited each year from non-Rotarians aged between 25 and 40. Rotary has many programs, with the Ambassadorial Scholar being applicable to university academics.
