Seminar to highlight the importance of cash flow

A knowledge of cash flow and the ability to control cash flow is essential for any business owner-manager.

This will be the message of Latrobe City’s small business seminar called ‘Managing Your Cash Flow’ planned for Tuesday 28 October in Traralgon.

According to Leo Billington, Latrobe City Investment Manager, knowledge about cash flow ensures that business development will proceed unimpeded by liquidity problems.

"Effective cash flow management is the life blood of any business. It is so easy for businesses to spend more than is actually being earned and some business operators are reluctant to accept responsibility for credit transactions, especially when debts mount up," Mr Billington said.

"We operate in a competitive business environment and this workshop will feature a panel comprising a local accountant, business banker and bookkeeper ready to answer questions," Mr Billington explained.

The seminar is part of a program for which Latrobe City received Federal government funding under the AusIndustry Small Business Enterprise Culture Program which will give business mentoring to 30 local small businesses.

The Small Business Enterprise Culture Program has a distinct advantage according to Mr Billington. "It provides a chance to deliver relevant and practical knowledge directly to small businesses and Tuesday’s workshop will highlight financial planning within a cash flow framework."

"Latrobe City’s small to medium business enterprises are invited to attend and there will be opportunities to ask plenty of questions about the problems that may arise if cash flow is not managed properly," Mr Billington concluded.
