Protests at Dingo Creek anger loggers

Activists show no signs of backing down from the fight

By Emma Kae - 20th April 2001 - Back to News

Five protestors were charged this week, after locking themselves to a bulldozer logging the Dingo Creek area. These activists were forcibly removed from the bulldozer by local Police on Thursday.

Despite the actions taken by the law enforcement, the protesters say the fight is far from over. Activists continue to slow progress by spreading throughout the area and attempting to stop operations.

It seems that the situation is a catch-22 as the Department of Natural Resources and Environment will not consider responding to these protests whilst the activists are illegally preventing people going about their work, and activists will not stop protesting until action is taken to respond to their requests.

How do you feel about the logging in the Dingo Creek area? Have your say below.
