Early Years Plan out for comment

Read more about the details for Municipal Early Years Plan (MEYP) 2016-2020.

Bass Coast Shire Council has many strategies and plans which touch on the lives of children and their families.

Research has shown that investment in the early years has returns in educational outcomes, productivity and positive community participation so it is important to have strategic directions which are specific to children aged 0 to 12 years.

Bass Coast Mayor, Cr Jordan Crugnale, said with the help of the community and early years professionals, Council has prepared a Municipal Early Years Plan (MEYP) 2016-2020.

"We have compiled the results of that consultation and prepared a draft Plan," Cr Crugnale said.

"Before Council adopts the Plan, we’d like the community to review it and provide comment."

An opportunity to discuss the draft Plan will take place at the Wonthaggi Centennial Centre on Monday, 23 May from 12.00pm until 2.00pm, and again in the afternoon from 4.00pm until 5.30pm. Community members are invited to drop in and discuss what is important to them and their families. Light refreshments will be provided.

The MEYP will also be available to view at Council’s Customer Service Centres in Wonthaggi, Inverloch, Grantville and Cowes and will be available online at www.basscoast.vic.gov.au/meyp from Tuesday, 17 May until Monday, 6 June.

For further information, or to provide comment, please contact Council’s Manager Community Strengthening, Antoinette Mitchell, on 1300 BCOAST (226 278) or (03) 5671 2211, or email a.mitchell@basscoast.vic.gov.au. Please note that submissions may be made available to the public.
