Wright:During the past month Carmen and John met with Rob Wright who is the Aboriginal Housing Services Officer with the Aboriginal Housing Board of Victoria. The reason for this meeting was to discuss what could be done regarding the lack of care taken of some properties by the tenants, and the personal behaviour of some of the tenants in houses under his control.Rob pointed out that they are only responsible for anything that occurs within the boundaries of the properties concerned. Anything that does occur outside these boundaries ie. in the street, is the responsibility of the police.Residents who have a complaint regarding the condition of a house or its surrounds or the behaviour of the tenants should fill in a NEIGHBOURHOOD DISPUTE INCIDENT REGISTER form. The matter will then be taken up by the Office of Housing. These forms are available from Office of Housing, 11 Hazelwood Road, Morwell.Share Scam:The Australian Securities and Investment Commission has recently advised the general community that David Tweed is once again writing to shareholders of various companies, offering to buy their shares at below market rates. ASIC have taken him to the Federal Court several times in the past. His latest offers to buy shares are sent to shareholders in the form of an off-market transfer form in one of his many company names, including:
Thousands of people have fallen for these offers from him, and sold their shares for a lot less than they are worth. Steer well clear of such poor value offers, don’t sell yourself short by offloading your investment for less than its worth. Don’t be pressured into selling. You don’t have to sell! If you want to sell listed shares, do it through a licensed stockbroker. That way you’ll get the market price, instead of losing 40% or more. You can easily find out the current value of shares, the prices are quoted every day in the business section of the daily papers. The Federal Court commented that while David Tweed’s actions were legal "His conduct can properly be described as predatory and against good conscience, designed to take advantage of inexperienced shareholders."
