Students, not pooches, should be Steve Herbert's priority

The future of Victorian students should be Steve Herbert’s top priority, not pampering pooches.

By Portal Admin - 7th November 2016 - Back to News

While Steve Herbert has been busy spending taxpayer dollars ferrying his dogs around the state in a chauffeured car, as well as thousands on private jets, international flights and a new coffee machine, Victoria’s training system is crashing down around him.

TAFEs are losing money hand over fist and student enrolments in training are plunging, but Steve Herbert is too busy organising limo service for his pooches.

Under Steve Herbert:

  • Dog grooming and styling courses are receiving more funding than growing sectors like tourism and hospitality, and skills shortage areas including agriculture have had vital training courses axed
  • TAFEs were left ungoverned for almost two months after Steve Herbert bungled his own reforms to the sector
  • Funding for student training at TAFE has been cut by $175 million

  • If Steve Herbert can't manage his own expenses, he can’t be trusted to manage Victoria's $1.2 billion training industry.
