Latrobe City’s performing arts and venues coordinator, Kathleen Roberts, said that Farid had earned critical and popular acclaim for his skill and charisma. "Winner of the Australian National Piano Award in 2006, Farid will perform Mozart’s ‘Piano concerto no. 14’, arguably one of his most beautiful pieces and suited to the intimate scale of the regional venues that the MCO will be visiting. "Recently graduated from London’s Royal College of Music, Farid’s youthful approach to the classics has been celebrated both across Australia and internationally. The performance will also feature the ‘Essay for Strings’ quartet by celebrated Australian composer Richard Mills, who arranged the work especially for the MCO," Ms Roberts explained. Stephen Block, CEO of the Melbourne Chamber Orchestra, said the orchestra was privileged to present new Australian works to regional audiences. "This Spring Tour will be one of the highlights of our season. MCO is delighted to tour this program of well-known favourites, which will be spiced up with a new piece by one of Australia’s best-known living composers," Mr Block added.
Latrobe Performing Arts presents the MCO at Kernot Hall, Morwell on Monday 18 October at 7pm. The bar will be open from 6pm. Contact the box office on 5176 3559. Bookings are essential. For more information, visit mco.org.au or rav.net.au.
