Latrobe City’s manager cultural liveability, Paul Holton, said that the workshops were attended by more than 40 people and focussed on the needs of local community groups and organisations that had used Latrobe City facilities in the past.

"The workshops sought feedback regarding both positive and negative aspects of the current range of facilities in Latrobe City and what needed to be addressed in the development of any new facility.

"These workshops were in addition to consultation meetings conducted with a range of other interest groups from across Latrobe City, such as Latrobe Theatre Company; the Traralgon Chamber of Commerce and Industry; Moe Traders Association, Advance Morwell; the Break A Leg Theatre Company; Traralgon City and Rural Development Association; and Monash Gippsland," Mr Holton explained.

Mr Holton added that Coomes had also established a website which seeks comment from the wider community.

"Information gathered through this engagement process will be used by Coomes to develop options for the scale, scope, location and operation of a Performing Arts and Convention Centre for Latrobe City. These options will be presented in a report at the conclusion of stage one of the project. Stage two will involve the development of a preferred option into concepts plans and an operational model," Mr Holton concluded.
