Conference committee chair, Department of Primary Industies’ (DPI) Tracey White, said that over 200 dairy producers, industry representatives and visitors are expected to travel from around the state and over the border to attend. "The committee, which includes six dairy farmers from northern Victoria and the southern Riverina, as well as industry and DPI representatives, has been meeting for 8 months to plan, what we believe, will be an outstanding conference," said Ms White. "It is always a challenge to come up with something different and to be able inspire and inform dairy farmers and the industry." "The committee have identified topics and speakers that will discuss the essential issues of cows, grass, people and profit. The conference will be practical and insightful." "We want to deliver information which gets right to the heart of dairy farming, particularly as many are still recovering from drought conditions. Farmers can be assured it will be a worthwhile and informative conference that will provide key messages that can be put into practice." Guest speakers will discuss physical and on-farm aspects which include feeding cows for profit, irrigation risk management and feeding for fertility. They will also present motivating business principles on topics such as understanding profit drivers, addressing the labour issue and milk marketing.
