The June Meeting was the Annual Meeting for the election of office bearers and the presentation of reports. All the previous office bearers were re-elected for another term. This car with two people in it has been loitering around St. Gabriel’s primary school in Traralgon. A five year old child was also accosted by someone in a white car in Yinnar recently. If any residents see this vehicle or any white car in suspicious circumstances, ring the Police Immediately on 000. You Can Be A Good Guy In Your Community:Neighbourhood Watch has just got reinforcements. The Good Guys are a new official partner supporting NHW for the next three years. The Good Guys, is a well established successful discount electrical retailer, with outlets throughout Melbourne and some regional centres. The business originally started 50 years ago as Muirs, and still today a Mighty Muirs store exists at Airport West. The Good Guys are a group of stores that are independently owned and run by each local proprietor. The Good Guys will market the NHW program on a local basis, and support the partnership with funding, expertise, local support and enthusiasm. Asbestos Awareness:¨ Do you understand the implications of being exposed to asbestos? ¨ Have you been industrially exposed to asbestos? ¨ Did you know that exposure can be by something as simple and everyday as washing out clothing containing asbestos fibres? Latrobe Community Health Service has produced free information booklets, a pamphlet and a web page, to inform the community about asbestos related illnesses, and safe handling and removal of asbestos containing materials. Booklets are available from the following locations: Latrobe Community Health Services, Local Hardware Stores, Latrobe City Council, Latrobe Regional Hospital, Local GP Practices. Winter Safety, Open Fires:With winter about to start, care should be taken with open fires. · Always have a safety screen in front of an open fire, have it secured so children cannot come in contact with the fire. · Don’t load too much fuel onto the fire at any time, to prevent burning fuel falling out into the room. · Make sure the fire is safe before retiring for the night. One spark on the carpet can start a fire in your home. · Do not leave very young children unattended near an open fire. · Teach older children of the dangers of an open fire.
