Criminlogy lecturer Dr. David Baker has been named an Associate Investigator on the Australian Research Centre’s national Research Centre for Excellence in Policing and Security. Dr. Baker will work on a project titled ‘Understanding Conflict in Vulnerable Communities’. The Centre will be based at Lecturers Ms. Robyn Heckenberg and Dr. Sue Yell have been awarded Faculty of Arts Dean’s Teaching awards which recognises excellence in teaching within the faculty. Ms. Heckenberg lectures in Australian Indigenous Studies, while Dr. Yell lectures in Communication and Media Studies. Monash Vice Chancellor, Richard Larkin has made a commitment to reduce energy consumption by 20% from 2005 to 2010. This is to be achieved by changes to infrastructure (10%) and cultural change (10%). All hallway lighting levels have been reviewed in accordance with the relevant Australian Standards and de lamped accordingly.
