June 9 – Launch of Unfinished Business: the Australian Reconciliation Process by Dr Andrew Gunstone from the Centre for Australian Indigenous Studies at Monash University’s Arts in Action Festival 2007. The book explores the political history of the 1991-2000 Australian reconciliation process. It analyses the three broad goals of the reconciliation process: educating the wider community about reconciliation and Indigenous issues; addressing Indigenous socio-economic disadvantage; and developing a document of reconciliation. It argues that none of these goals were achieved by the conclusion of the reconciliation process. The book also explores several interrelated factors that contributed to the overall failure of the reconciliation process.
