The Gippsland Campus will be hosting the 2007 Gippsland Innovation Festival. The official launch will be held on May 2, 2007.
The final exhibition for 2006 at the Gippsland Campus Switchback Gallery is titled ‘Degree Exhibition 2006’ and is a collection from the 2006 Bachelor of Visual Arts students. The opening of the exhibition was attended by over 100 visitors including friends and families of students and industry representatives from the region such as the Director, Gippsland Art Gallery Sale, the Acting Curator, Latrobe Regional Gallery and the Director, Cowwarr Art Space. The exhibition will close on January 31, 2007. The Switchback Gallery is open 9am-5pm weekdays.
• Making the Grade
Nicole Johnson, Barbara Collicer, Mikaela Little and Renae Singh, Visual Arts students from the Gippsland Campus have recently completed a semester of study at the Monash Centre, Prato, Italy. Their study program included undertaking individual studio projects, lectures and on site visits to some of the world’s greatest museums of art and design.
Dr Ken Sellick, School of Nursing & Midwifery recently attended the 7th Annual Interdisciplinary Research Conference: Transforming Healthcare through Research, Education and Technology at the University of Dublin, Ireland.
Ray Beebe, from the School of Applied Sciences and Engineering is in Toronto this week speaking at Maintrain2006, the annual conference of the Plant Engineering and Maintenance Association of Canada. Ray is presenting a four hour workshop prior to, and speaking during the conference, on aspects of predictive maintenance/condition monitoring. PEMAC conduct their own certificate training, and he has been invited to take part in their annual syllabus review meeting. After the conference, he is visiting the Condition Based Maintenance laboratory of the University of Toronto. He will also be promoting postgraduate programs in North America.
Professor Val Clulow and Dr Rowan Kennedy from the Faculty of Business and Economics recently visited the Southern Yangtze University, China to welcome students who will be commencing at the Gippsland Campus in 2007 and 2008 where they will complete their Bachelor of Business & Commerce over a two year period.
