College Football Teams fair well in Round 2A huge THANKS to all our sponsors who are listed in the article. Please taken a moment to acknowledge them. By Karen Cashman - 5th May 2006 - Back to News Round two in the Sale and District Junior Football competition had some striking results for the College Junior Football Club.
With wins in the Under 10's and Under 12's, the players have begun to "pave their way" towards a successful season. The Under 16's team had a huge battle, but put in a fabulous effort.
The Under 10's game against Maffra Black, a nail biter, saw the College team come up trumps by 6 points. College 5.4.34 d Maffra Black 4.4.28.
Goal scoreres for the College : Nash Holmes 3, Ben Dessent 1, Sam Hogan 1. The team enjoyed the crowd , giving the players a little "lift" throughout the match.
Round 2 best players for the Under 10's College team : Nash Holmes, Ben Dessent & A, Mason.
The Under 12's game between College v Maffra Red took a turn after the first quarter, with College players finding something a little "extra" to pull ahead of their strong rivals.
College 7.10.52 d Maffra Red 3.0.18
Goals for the College were scored by Lauchie Dowd, Harry Dowd, Alex Warry, Lauchie Brown and Daniel Jackson.
Round 2 best on the ground for the College : Josh Cashman, Joel Centra and Jake Abrahall.
Again, the crowd watching the Under 12's were encouraging the players to lift when it was needed - and they did!
The College Under 16's team had a harder day going down to Rosedale 33.14.212 to 4.1.25. The College players were courageous, but out played on the day.
Round 2 best for the College : R. Skeen, A Hanratty, T. Tasker, with goals scored by K. Ashton 1, J. Buge 1, J. Coad 1, and T. Geroge 1.
With round two gone (but not forgoten), all the College teams are gearing up for yet another testing, hard working weekend of fabulous football.
They can all hold their heads high with pride. Their sportsmanship and teamsmanship was outstanding throughout the course of the morning, and is bound to be the "benchmark" for the Club during the 2006 season.
Well done College players.
