I would like to thank all residents in LTB1, who have been assisting the local Police in providing timely information that has led to the apprehension of offenders responsible for local crime. The concerns of local residents in the Bridle Estate, and in particular the concerns of residents living in hot spot areas, have resulted of a number of strategies being implemented by Police. The increased targeted patrol, door knocking and brochure distribution, have assisted in our ultimate objective of decreasing crime and anti-social behaviour. A lot of behind scenes work is being carried out by local Police and additionally an excellent partnership has been formed with other agencies. Sergeant Ken Passalaqua is meeting with a number of agencies to deal with a range of issues. I am confident that strategies being designed with these agencies will further assist in decreasing the incidents of crime and anti-social behaviour. At the time of writing this letter (27/6/05) for the LTB1 newsletter, only 9 reports of crime for the 27 days of June in the LTB1 area. In previous meetings I projected that it would take a few months for strategies being introduced to start impacting on crime in the area. These strategies show we are now starting to experience a reduction in crime. It is very important that we continue current strategies to further work towards decreasing crime and anti-social behaviour. On a national level Victoria has the second lowest calculated crime rate in Australia, behind Tasmania. The total crime rate is 16.4% below the national average. Locally in Morwell, year to date statistics show that the theft from Motor Cart is 22% higher than last year. However Property Damage is down 12%, Aggravated Burglary down 6%, Residential Burglary down 3%, Other Burglary down 35%, Theft of a Motor Car down 30%. On a personal note I would like to thank all the residents who took time out with the Safety Walks recently, and to the assistance of Gus. from the Bridle road Milk Bar. Senior Constable Brendan Clifford is now busy arranging a noticeable Police/NHW board for the Shop. Looking forward to attending the NHW Meeting in September. Regards, Ricky Ross".
